Spiritual Wayfinding

for People Whose Inherited Maps No Longer Serve Them

You did everything right. You built the life you were supposed to build. And somewhere along the way, the map stopped working.

This is not a crisis. It's a threshold.

I'm Elaine Murray — ordained minister, author, and guide for the messy middle between endings and beginnings. For over a decade, I've walked alongside people navigating career pivots, spiritual reckonings, midlife unraveling, and the long work of rebuilding when the old structures no longer fit.

There's a way forward. You don't need the whole path. Just the next right step.

Spiritual Wayfinding™️:
The Practice of Living Soul First

What Is Spiritual Wayfinding?

You don’t need to rewrite your life.
You need help locating yourself inside it.

Spiritual Wayfinding is the practice of slowing down long enough to notice what's steady, what's asking for attention, and what's ready to change. It's not therapy. It's not coaching. It's not a program with steps and outcomes.

It's discernment, practiced in community and in private — for people who are capable and competent and still feel profoundly lost.

This work draws from ancient contemplative and indigenous wisdom traditions, family systems theory, the 12-Step movement, theological depth, and hard-won wisdom from my own threshold seasons. It belongs to anyone navigating transition, regardless of background, belief, or where they are in the journey.

What she does isn’t about religion. It’s soul work. For powerful
people who are looking to connect—especially in this time when it’s
hard to trust that it’s real.

The Common Wealth of Compassionate Soul Care

This is a movement that honors the commonly held dignity and sacredness of every human being.

The Common Wealth is built on a simple conviction: soul care should not be the exclusive province of the privileged. The most vulnerable people — children, the silenced, the dismissed, the disoriented — should shape the whole, not be left outside the door.

So this work exists at every level of access, from the living room to the private container. Wherever you are, there's a place for you here.

Where do you begin?

Different seasons call for different kinds of support. Here's how to find yours.

What People Say About This Work

What is it that Elaine does?
Creates sacred space for powerful people to reconnect to their souls without fear, without judgment, without shame, without having to pretend to be anything other than who or what I am.
Elaine is a mirror.

She gives me the opportunity to construct my own reflection
— Client Testimonial
I’m not Christian, and I started reading this not certain what spiritual
wayfinding was or how it applied to me. To my delight, the lessons here
turned out to be for anyone who is going through loss or change, regardless
of their beliefs or background. I especially like the ‘wayfinding practices’:
exercises at the end of each chapter that allow the reader to engage with
the message of the book in their own way. It blends candor in storytelling
with insight and courage.
— Reader, In Your End Is Your Beginning
I lost my way—questioning my beliefs, my worth, my life’s purpose.
Elaine stood by my side through raging waters, letting my storms pass
without judgment. She helped me remember my life’s calling and find
the confidence I’d lost

Who This Work Is For

The executive director leaving nonprofit leadership after 15 years who needs help discerning what's next without rushing into the wrong thing.

The corporate professional who is successful by every external measure and feels spiritually misaligned.

The pastor navigating burnout, call transition, or stepping away from institutional church.

The person at midlife — divorce, empty nest, career plateau — who wants to make the next chapter count.

The entrepreneur or creative who achieved what they set out to achieve and is now asking: what does my soul actually want?

The person who doesn't fit neatly into any of these categories but recognizes something in the language of threshold, map, and next right step.

You don't have to be accomplished to belong here. You just have to be honest.

A wayfinding session acts like a portal that grounds me.

Why This Work, Why Now

I'm an ordained Presbyterian minister, author, and organizational leader. I hold an MDiv from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and have spent 14 years serving as a pastor and communications leader, walking alongside hundreds of people through career transitions, spiritual reckonings, grief, reinvention, and major life thresholds.

My approach integrates:

  • Theological depth and pastoral care (14 years in ministry)

  • Change management and organizational leadership

  • Family systems theory

  • Spiritual formation practices

  • Therapeutic frameworks (including graduate study in counseling)

I've also navigated my own threshold seasons — leaving parish ministry, exploring paths that didn't fit, and learning to discern what's true versus what's expected. I guide from lived experience, not just theory.

I also serve as a leader in association management, which means I understand both the soul work and the organizational realities of people leading institutions.
